About Us

The Right Productions provides entertainment booking, production, facility management and marketing services needed for major events and venues. Founded in 1996, the company has grown into a significant source for entertainment and special events services.

In 2004 The Right Productions was awarded the contract to manage and operate the 6,000 seat Chene Park Amphitheatre. Shows have included Herbie Hancock, Deepak Chopra, Mary J. Blige, Shahrukh Khan, Kem, Kenny G, Ne-Yo, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra Jill Scott and nearly one hundred other nation acts. In addition to producing the shows, the company is responsible for all concessions, security, parking, grounds and maintenance at Chene Park.

For ten years the company provided entertainment booking and production services at the MGM Grand Detroit Casino and the Greektown Casino for such acts as Earth Wind and Fire, Howie Mandel, LeAnn Rimes, and Peter Frampton.

The company provides production services that include stage lighting, sound reinforcement, stage management, and crew. These services have been provided for diverse national acts in recent years including such acts as Stevie Wonder, Crystal Gayle, and Pat Benatar. The John Kerry for President Campaign tapped The Right Productions to coordinate their election eve event at Joe Louis Arena which featured Stevie Wonder. The company provided all of the entertainment and production elements for Winter Blast 2005 and Super Bowl XL Winter Blast 2006. The Right Productions, Inc. holds a Michigan Gaming Control Board – Non-Gaming Suppliers License and a Michigan Liquor Control Commission – Class C Liquor License. It is certified as a Woman Owned, Detroit Headquartered Business.

The Right Productions, Inc. draws upon the extensive background of its President, Shahida Mausi, who has created many successful events in Detroit’s cultural and entertainment history. While serving as the Director of the City of Detroit Council of the Arts, Ms. Mausi created the Jazz series at Chene Park in 1984, setting record attendance of nearly 6000 with such acts as Wynton Marsalis and the late Carmen McCrae. She created of the Gallery Crawl, a marketing event created to promote visibility and sales for Detroit galleries that continued for over twenty years.

Shahida Mausi was the Executive Producer for Amandla Mandela at Tiger Stadium. This was the first concert stadium event produced in Detroit and featured performances by Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Maze with Frankie Beverly and many others. She initiated the African World Festival, bringing in the Museum of African American History, and programming the first African World Festivals from her office. These events set attendance records for festivals at Hart Plaza not surpassed until the inception of Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival.
